Jalisco Mexican Cafe Restaurant
The Jalisco Mexican Café Restaurant has been located in Imperial Beach since 1940. The Bonita location was established in 1986 by the Sumpter family. Grace Martinez Sumpter started her first Mexican restaurant in Chula Vista in 1970. The restaurant was soon followed by another. When Grace and her husband, Maston (“Ed”) retired in 1986, their son, Edward, carried on the family tradition with the Jalisco Café.
At the Jalisco Café, the current owners, Alex and Alejandra have continued the tradition of over 50 years by serving you authentic Mexican food in a friendly, family atmosphere.

Real Mexican food here, made on site. Pozole is outstanding. Could barely finish the huge bowl. The pork is so tender. Machaca and eggs is the way to start the day. The salsa is great, not too hot, but yet you know it’s there. And it’s fresh salsa too.

Great friendly service and delicious food. Torta’s, burrito’s, flying saucers you can’t go wrong with any of them. Their beans are my favorite.

My parents go to this restaurant every Sunday for their menudo. They swear its the best. I personally like their enchiladas suizas and rice combo. The chips are always fresh and their salsa is good and hot. The place is clean and the staff is nice.
